The concept of news literacy is fairly confusing as to the specifics that make it up. Essentially, it is my job as a writer to ensure that all of my information is accurate and portrayed in a non-biased manner, unless it is an opinion piece. I try to always include both sides to make sure that my own personal bias doesn't show, which is often the case due to me writing about my school's sports teams. While I can have a slight bias when writing about Carlmont for Scot Scoop, I have to remain unbiased when I write stories for Prep2Prep, even if they are about Carlmont. This is definitely a difficult task, as I sometimes have to take two angles for the same story due to writing for two publications. Despite its difficulty, its very important for a journalist to remain objective and report just the facts and not opinions.
This is an article draft about PG&E and its history that I wrote for my senior capstone assignment. Although I have strong feelings about PG&E, I stuck to the facts and did my best to keep my opinions and feelings out of it and remain objective.
